The C2C and Reivers Routes: The most popular cycle route in Britain, the 136mile C2C or Sea to Sea, runs through the North-West Cumbria area from either Workington or Whitehaven, and continues through the North Pennines in to Northumberland and on to the east coast at Tynemouth or Sunderland. The route is generally ridden in a West to East direction to best utilise the gradients and winds. The Reivers route Uses the same end points but is designed to be ridden in an East to West direction and ventures further North in to the Scottish Borders. Like the C2C the 190 mile route is steeped in history. For the ultimate adventure use the Reivers as a return from the C2C. Hire packages for either cycle route are available, which include delivery and collection arrangements at each end. We do not require you to book accommodation with us, as there is a vast choice available and it very much down to personal taste and budget, (and of course how you wish to divide the journey). We will be more than happy to offer impartial advice to help you make your choice. Check out our accommodation links for further information or the C2C guide website's accommodation links. Alternatively the SherpaVan project offer flexible accommodation and luggage transfer options. Hire is priced at the normal rates; the most suitable bikes being our front suspension adult Claud Butlers priced at £20 for first day and £10 for subsequent days. These can be fitted out with a choice of saddles and tyres (semi-slick tyres recommended for most journeys) at no extra cost. Rear pannier racks and bags are available at £3/day. Deposit for C2C hire is £100 cash per bike and suitable identification (passport/photo driving license). Payment and deposit must be paid in full before leaving. Delivery and collection of the bikes is £50 Total N.B. We are not able to transport persons, only bikes, though the rail network allows bikes to be carried by train. If returning to Workington or Whitehaven by train with bikes then no delivery or collection charges apply. Please note that unfortunately no hire is available this year (2009). We have no bikes at present but hope to be back with a new fleet soon. Apologies for any inconvenience.
